Frozen English Toffee Cake

For Cake:

1 box Devil’s Food Cake Mix
Ice Cream Filling and frosting:
½ gallon chocolate or vanilla ice cream, softened
10 oz. Toffee To Go Toffee, slightly crushed
1- 8 oz. container whipped topping

Prepare cake as directed using two 8-inch round pans. Cool cakes completely.

Ice Cream Filling Preparation:

Line three 8-inch cake pans with plastic wrap, allowing three inches of plastic to hang over the sides.  Divide the ice cream equally among the pans. Using a rubber spatula, spread ice cream over bottom of pans, forming smooth, even layers.  Sprinkle ¼ c. toffee bits over ice cream in each pan.  Freeze for three hours, or until solid frozen.

To Assemble and Frost:

Cut each cake layer horizontally in half.
Working quickly, remove ice cream from pans. Peel off plastic and place 1 ice cream circle on each of 3 cake layers. Stack cake and ice cream layers atop each other on serving platter.  Top with remaining cake layer.
Frost cake with whipped topping and sprinkle with remaining toffee bits.
Keep in freezer, take out only a few minutes before serving. For an extra treat, drizzle Gourmet Toffee dessert Sauce over every serving!

Serving Suggestions for Gourmet Toffee Dessert Sauce

  • Fill small bowls with warm Gourmet Toffee Dessert Sauce and place on individual serving plates. Surround with fresh fruit, berries and small pieces of pound cake for dipping.  You can choose to add a second small bowl of softly whipped cream if you’d like!

  • Pour warm sauce generously over ice cream and top with a sprinkling of lightly toasted almonds, pecans, walnuts, or...Toffee!

  • A plain cheesecake or pound cake is transformed when served with our Gourmet Toffee Dessert Sauce poured generously over it ----add a dollop of whipping cream!

  • Char-grill thin slices of pear, peach or pineapple on a barbecue or ridged grill pan until tender.  Top with warm Gourmet Toffee Dessert Sauce and a dollop of whipping cream.

Toffee Sauce  Bananas Foster
Gently sauté banana slices in butter over medium heat for about 3-4 minutes.  Pour over Gourmet Toffee Dessert Sauce and gently stir until warmed through and bananas are coated.  Serve over vanilla ice cream.
(Substitute pineapple for the banana for another wonderful dessert!)
